“I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” –Matthew 25:36

For over 27 years, St. Luke’s has been welcoming and serving anyone who needs a meal in our church basement. Each weekday morning, a ministry team opens our doors, prepares coffee and food (all of which has been donated), and offers a meal, a cup of coffee, and a warm place to enjoy them to everyone who shows up. We ask our guests to be respectful, but not religious. We pray for them regularly. We pray with them when they ask. We listen to and care for them, and some of them choose to be a part of our congregation. We welcome them in our midst as well.

Even when our congregation was too small to have our own priest, even part-time, we lived into our Christian commitment to feed the poor and comfort the afflicted. On average, we serve over 100 breakfast meals each day Monday through Friday. That’s about 2,000 meals a month. We invite you to join us in this joyful ministry with either your help in the kitchen or a donation. If you want more information, please contact Sara Bates at 206-784-3119 or email the church office.

Not a morning person? We can also use volunteers in the evenings to help prepare for breakfast the next morning. Sign up to volunteer at VolunteerMatch.org.
