Missions Ministries
St.
Luke's is committed to missions. The church has an active
Missions Committee and maintains close contact with several missionaries.
Missions related activities of the church include missions speakers,
ethnic dinners promoting missions awareness, occasional short-term
missions trips, individual and group prayer, and financial support.
A highlight of the church's missions program has been our
adoption of the Ansari people group of India in August
1996. The church committed to supporting outreach to the Ansari
through prayer, giving and missionary work until an Ansari church
is established. The Ansari are Urdu-speaking
Muslims
who
are traditionally weavers. More information about the concept
of adopting a people group is available from the U.S.
Center for World Mission.

The
"Ansari Advocates"
The "Ansari Advocates" are Youth
with a Mission (YWAM) missionaries who have been sent
out by St. Luke's and their home church, Overlake Christian
Church. The names of these missionaries are not identified
here in order to protect their security. The Ansari Advocates
are people
group advocates for the Ansari,
a group of Urdu speaking Muslims located primarily in India.
They work to spread awareness of the Ansari and coordinate the
efforts of Christians targeting the Ansari. They have worked
with the Caleb Project,
Every Home for Christ,
short term missions groups from local churches, and indigenous
Christians among others.
