Thanks
for visiting my "Poetry Page". I am the wife
of the Rector at St Luke's Episcopal Church in Ballard, WA,
John Roddam. We have been serving at St Luke's since
November of 2000.
I began writing these poems when John and I became "homeless in Seattle".
Really! The house we had been renting sold suddenly, and we could
not find another place for 2 1/2 months. So we house-sat for friends
who were going on vacation, and I discovered www.poetry.com on the web!
I began playing with the Haiku and Poetry in Motion "contests". It
was fun thinking of a creative ways to describe pictures in 3 lines, or
come up with an interesting thought with only 20 "pieces" of words
(check it out!!). But what was really amazing was how the Lord began
to use these poems to show me some of the things that were "lurking in
the depths". Things that I was trying to work out in my walk with
Him as He did NOT meet my expectations in "my time of need". Instead
of giving me the easy answers, He has been teaching me "His ways" -
like Moses knew - not just His deeds like the Israelites saw.
As you visit this page, my prayer is that you may be blessed and maybe even
challenged to think a little differently or see things in a new way. These
are not all "heavy, deep and profound" poems :) but they are meaningful
to me, and I hope fun to read.
May you know the joy of the one who stepped into His own creation to save us,
and may it be your strength in the journey ahead of you!
Peace and Love,
Holly M. <><
